Every career reaches a moment where the questions change — not “What else can I take on?” but “Where do I create the most impact? How do I grow, and what kind of work truly energizes me?” That was the moment Natian Lam found himself in before joining ATS Life Sciences Systems last year as a Mechatronics Integration Team Lead.

Over the course of his career, he built range, versatility, and responsibility, leading projects, mentoring others, solving complex challenges, and continually stretching his capabilities. Through that experience, something meaningful became clear: “What energizes me most is managing and coaching my team, helping people grow, building capability, and aligning strengths with business needs. That’s the work that feels meaningful to me.”

This isn’t a story about leaving a chapter behind — it’s about recognizing the kind of career you want and choosing environments that help you grow into that future with intention.

“I wanted to focus my energy where it matters most”

As his career evolved, Natian began to think differently about what progress really meant. Growth was no longer about taking on more, it was about sharpening his focus, strengthening his leadership, and creating the kind of environment where others could succeed and grow alongside him. “I wanted to be more intentional about where I invested my time, to focus on coaching, strategy, and team development.”

So, when he discovered an opportunity at ATS, it didn’t feel like a detour or a restart. It felt like alignment — the moment where his experience, his values, and the kind of leader he wanted to become all moved in the same

direction. “The blend of mechanical, software, and leadership experience was exciting. I felt connected to the work

— challenged, inspired, and motivated to bring my best.”

It wasn’t just a new role for Natian; it was the beginning of the next chapter of his career, one built on purpose, clarity, and momentum.

Support, mentorship, and the space to grow forward

Career growth doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in environments that recognize potential and invest in it. For Natian, that meant mentorship, trust, and continuous learning. “Through ABM training and the mentorship program, my managers coach me through complex scenarios, trust my decisions, and help plan stretch projects

that prepare me for the future.”

With that support came possibility and a career path with more than one direction. “There are so many roles and departments I can grow into. I have clarity, but also flexibility in how my career evolves.” This isn’t about changing course; it’s about growing with purpose and choosing a place that grows with you.
